Teaching Our Kids the Bible

God tells Jacob it's time to go home. Jacob's family leaves without good-byes. Laben tracks them down. Rachel steals the household gods and Laben wants them back. 

Thoughts on Rachel stealing her father's gods: Rachel could have stolen them because she still trusted them. In Genesis 35, Jacob tells his family to get rid of their gods.  BUT Rachel could also have stolen them to punish her father for all his mistreatment. She trusted in Jacob's God at this point in her willingness to follow Jacob back to his home.
